Happy Halloween (I know it's late)

This past week was really good. Sister O and I finally heard back from one of our investigators that was supposed to be baptized a few weeks ago. His name is C. F.  and he called us this past weekend and told us that he had gotten baptized that day! It was amazing to hear back from him because we had messaged him so many times with no answer and so we had doubts that he would never get back to us at all. luckily prayer does work! Our district has started to make district prayer lists so that we can pray for each other's investigators as well as our own. C was on the list, and I am so grateful that we received this answer to our prayers!
Sister O and I have been working really well together. She is a wonderful trainer and she has helped me so much to adjust properly to missionary life. every night we both list at least three things that we are grateful for that happened during the day. This has helped me to see that in every day we can find miracles, and recognize the had of god in our lives. She is also really fun to be around and she knows exactly what to say to investigators almost every time we meet with them. It has been a little hard for me to get out of my comfort zone and speak with random strangers but Sister O has helped me to understand that the people who we meet are not just random people. These people have been placed in our path by God because He knows that we have something good that we can share with them whether or not they are members.
Sister C and Sister K are amazing! They are pretty much our companions as well even though we are not even in the same district, haha!  We always make an effort to lend a hand to each other when needed and go on explore day together (explore day is for sisters in training and their companions. We learn more about the sites and discover different places so that we can direct people in the right direction of things while on the square). We also occasionally will go get hot cocoa when both companionships arrive early for the day! We call ourselves the "Quadpanion" :)
Today I finished the first book of Nephi. It is not the first time that I have read it, of course, however I have found that every time I read it I find something that I have forgotten come to my memory, or I learn something new. As I have been reading the Book of Mormon, I have taken up a challenge that Sister R gave us, which was to highlight every reference to God that we see. My testimony of the Book of Mormon is growing more and more as I do this. Before, I knew that the Book of Mormon testified of Christ and that it had good experiences from the prophets of old that could be related to our day, but now I have come to realize that the Book of Mormon  testifies of Christ on every page. The Book of Mormon is not just about the faith of the prophets and the stories of Christ, it is a collection of records that truly help us to understand and get to know Christ ourselves. Christ is on every page of the Book of Mormon, and through the Book of Mormon we truly can come unto Christ.
This mission is amazing and I am so happy that I can have this opportunity to help others gain a relationship with Jesus while strengthening my own testimony of the Savior. I have to admit it bugs me when sisters say thatwe are just here to "plant seeds." I do not think that is true. We are here to give people converting experiences so that when they walk away, they can feel the Spirit and desire to change to become closer to Christ. We also, like I mentioned last time, teach people online and over the phone a lot. Many people that we meet on the square truly havebeen prepared by God to hear the message that we have to share. When we can feel the Spirit as we speak to people, it is really important that whenever appropriate, we point out that that is what they are feeling. When people recognize the Spirit for what it is, they come to understand that God is aware of them and loves them. This is the most wonderful feeling in the world and I really want everyone to be able to feel that they are not alone.
Every once in a while we come across antis. Sister O is much better at discerning the Spirit and noticing that before I do. I am hoping that comes with time. :) We usually at least, come across one on the square about once a week and on line every two to three days, we get an insane one.  As I have begun to have these incidences with them, my own testimony of the gospel has been strengthened. The wonderful thing about missionary work is that we have the Spirit to testify of truth and I have the scriptures. Whenever I come across someone that makes me question something, I research my question and I have always been able to find my answer through the Spirit, scriptures and my leaders. The gift of revelation is amazing and I am so grateful that God has given us the opportunity to get revelation because that is what makes the difference. We gain testimonies when we act on our faith and continue to have faith even when we are not sure of the answer; God will give us answers in His timing and all we have to do is trust Him enough to act on the promptings we receive and follow Him. This truly is amazing!
Yep, it's selfie time in front
of the apartment!
Our investigators D and P and their families are doing well, although I really have been praying that they will be able to attend church because they work on Sundays. t, however, is going through a really rough time and I think she needs all the prayers that she can get. She is struggling a lot financially and may be kicked out of her house soon if she cannot pay the bills. She is a rock-star though because she is really relying on Christ. She said that when she prays it is more meaningful now. She is such a great mom and I am really learning about diligence and faith from her. I pray for her all of the time! I have not mentioned N for a while, but t hat is because I am letting Sister K teach her now. the language barrier is really hard on people, and I trust Sister K to be able to help her. the sisters in this mission are amazing!
The members here are great as well. Yes, we do get a lot of crazies, but we get lots of sweet people as well. I have gone out to eat about four times now and I only get a little so that it will not be that expensive for me, mostly just an appetizer or an ice cream on p-day, but three of those times a mystery member has paid for my food! We don't' even know that this is happening until we go to pay! People are so sweet. I love them so much!
Halloween was amazing. I can definitely say this has been the best one I have celebrated so far! We did not dress up or anything but I got to see a lot of costumes when on the square, which was really cool, I guess. the square shut down at five because there are a lot of people who come to Temple Square on Halloween to make mischief, so why was this my favorite one? I will tell you:
At five o'clock when the square shut down the security guards were all out. this is great because most of them are absolutely hilarious and are our very good friends. Then we went to dinner as a mission; all 180+ missionaries in the same room eating food together. It was really fun. Then we went to the temple, all of us, at once! they opened up athe temple just for us and we were all able to go to a session together! the Spirit was absolutely amazing and it is so hard to describe, but we all left crying from the good feelings of the Spirit and hugging each other. Even the sisters who do not hug ever, ,were hugging and everyone was crying. I don not think I spotted one dry eye. the whole mission was completely unified that night! It is amazing how strong God's love is when you are around people that all have a desire to serve the Lord. I will not forget that experience and I can hardly describe it at all! It felt as close to Heaven as I have ever felt and that is a wonderful feeling.
Anayway, I hope that everyone is doing well and I pray for you often. I love you all so much!
Love,
Sister Lybbert
